The three filmmakers soon realize that they are not alone and are being watched. Each night the group sets up camp for the evening, they are awoken by strange voices and sounds outside their tent. During their travels, the film crew happens upon small stacks of stones on the ground and strange figures fashioned with sticks and twine hanging from the treetops. Despite their careful navigation, the group soon becomes lost, walking for days in relentless circles. With only a paper map and compass to guide their way, the film crew enters the unforgiving forest. In 1824, the town was renamed from Blair to Burkittsville, and it is here that three student filmmakers visit in 1994 to film a documentary on the infamous Blair Witch. During his trial, the accused said he could not face his victim’s eyes, so he made them face the corner. He successively forced one child of the pair stand in the corner facing the wall while killing the other, after which he killed the second child. The accused man kidnapped eight children, bringing them into his basement in twos. The story follows three student filmmakers who venture out to the Maryland wilderness to create a documentary about a local legend known as the Blair Witch.Īccording to legend, a resident of the small town of Blair, Maryland was executed in 1785 for practicing witchcraft. Released in 1999, The Blair Witch Project is considered by many as the pivotal film that started the modern found footage revolution. ![]() She is still part of the industry though and is the producer and writer of ' The High Country', an independently produced sitcom based on her post-Blair experiences as a marijuana farmer.“The Blair Witch Project” is a found footage horror film written and directed by Eduardo Sánchez and Daniel Myrick. Her last acting role was in the 2008 direct-to-DVD horror film 'The Morgue'.ĭonahue left acting in 2008 to become a medical marijuana grower (yes, really) and went on to publish her debut book 'Growgirl' in 2012. Since then, Heather has appeared in short films and televised films, such as 'The Walking Hack of Asbury Park', 'New Suit' and 'The Big Time'. ' It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' fans will recognise Heather from the first season of the show where she played Stacy Corvelli. In 2002, she starred in the TV mini-series 'Taken', for which she was nominated for a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress on Television. as well as the romantic comedy 'Boys and Girls' with Jason Biggs. This would mark the first major roles for all three actors, who used their real names in the groundbreaking movie, and while none of them have gone on to become household names or the like, they have had respectable careers in the TV and movie industry.Īfter 'The Blair Witch Project', Heather appeared in the independent film 'Home Field Advantage' alongside Freddie Prinze, Jr. They were Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard and Michael Williams. Of course this wasn't the case and was down to 'The Blair Witch Project's excellent marketing campaign which proposed that this movie was actual found footage of three missing hikers. ![]() Back in 1999, the answer to this question would have been that they died at the hands of some ghost witch out in the American woods somewhere.
